- Government Approves Enhancements to Irish SME Test
- ‘Think Small First’ principle must be fully applied on all new legislation.
Tuesday, 22 October 2024
Bridge Enterprise Centres welcomes the initiative which hopefully will allow family businesses, indigenous enterprises and home-grown SMEs to reduce their red tape and regulatory burden.
Under the new guidelines, all primary and secondary legislative proposals, new policies and strategies, and all Statutory Instruments will need to carry out an SME Test or provide an explanation why one is not necessary. This will ensure that potential negative and disproportionate impacts on SMEs are fully considered, and mitigations are applied when necessary.
It is imperative that the Test be rigorously applied by ALL Government Departments to any major new measures that will directly or indirectly impact small and medium enterprises.
Commenting, Bridge Chairperson, Mark Fielding said, “On behalf of the many SMEs who use BRIDGE ENTERPRISE CENTRES services as members, tenants, clients and supporters we welcome the Government’s long awaited decision to agree the revised guidelines and template for the application of the SME Test.
