The Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Scheme and the Power Up Grant have been a vital support for many small businesses struggling with rising costs. But if you’re in the retail, hospitality, or beauty sector and missed out, not because you were late or ineligible, but because you selected the wrong business category during registration, there’s now a chance to put that right.
The Reclassification Appeal Process officially opened on 24 July 2025 and will run until 15 August 2025.
Appeals Now Open – But Only for Some
The appeal process has been introduced to help businesses who were mistakenly recorded under the wrong sector during their original ICOB registration. If that’s your case, and you’re in one of the eligible sectors mentioned above, you may now be able to reclassify your business and access the ICOB and Power Up grants.
⚠️ This is not a re-opening of the grant schemes.
It’s only for businesses that misclassified their sector during the original ICOB registration. It won’t apply to businesses that missed the deadline or are hoping to apply for the first time.
The following sectors are eligible for appeal under this process:
- Retail
- Accommodation
- Food and Beverage Services
- Beauty and Personal Care
Appeals Close: 15 August 2025
All appeals must be submitted through mycoco.ie/icob before the deadline.
