The Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Act 2025 commences on June 29th 2026.

Allows employees the right (but not an obligation) to remain in employment until they reach the State Pension age (66).

In practice, the employee must give a minimum three-month notice .Therefore the earliest retirement date to use this right is September 29th 2026.

This Act gives more flexibility to older workers to remain in employment till they reach sixty-six. Find out more Contractual Retirement Age – DETE
