From 1 July 2026, a new €3 Customs Duty charge will apply to low-value eCommerce goods, worth €150 or less, shipped directly to EU consumers from outside the EU which includes Britain.
These new rules create a significant opportunity for Irish SME online retailers and eCommerce businesses and hopefully will encourage Irish consumers to look closer to home when shopping online.
It’s time for our online SMEs to promote all-round value, local service, transparent pricing, faster delivery, hassle free returns.
We must also draw attention to the benefit of buying Irish, without the hassle of additional Customs Tax, unexpected charges and the inevitable delays with non-EU and British suppliers.
