Second Tuesday Event: Sustainable Business Practices

This morning, we hosted another engaging in-person event on Sustainable Business Practices at the Omniplex Cinema Nutgrove, featuring guest speaker Gavin Harte. Thank you to all our members and local businesses who joined us bright and early to learn more about practical ways to make your business more sustainable. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other local professionals while gaining valuable insights into how sustainability, funded by grants through the SEAI can be integrated into everyday business operations.

One of the key takeaways from the session was that starting your sustainability journey doesn’t have to be daunting – small steps can make a real difference, especially with the guidance and supports available from Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. If your business is interested in exploring community-based grant programmes or collaborative energy initiatives, we would love to hear from you.

During the session, Gavin outlined three practical steps businesses can take to begin their sustainability journey, showing that meaningful progress often starts with small, manageable actions.

Step 1 – Understand
Start with the Energy Academy, a free online programme that helps businesses learn the basics of energy management and begin building an energy action plan.

Step 2 – Assess
Next, apply for the Energy Audit Voucher, which provides €2,000 towards a professional energy audit. An SEAI-registered assessor will review how your business uses energy and identify practical opportunities to save.

Step 3 – Invest
With a clear plan in place, businesses can then explore grants for energy efficiency upgrades, renewable heat, and solar PV to reduce costs and emissions.

We are currently gathering interest from local businesses and “energy citizens” who may wish to participate in a group initiative and will connect interested parties as opportunities arise.
