LinkedIn continues to be one of the most effective platforms for SMEs that want to raise their profile, build credibility and create new business opportunities. In a busy digital world, it offers a clear way to stay visible, connect with the right people and share useful insights that keep your business front of mind.
At our recent session with Richard McKeown, the focus was on using LinkedIn in a practical, consistent way to support business growth. The message was clear: success on LinkedIn does not come from quick fixes. It comes from building a professional presence, engaging with purpose and strengthening relationships over time.
The first step is to make sure your profile reflects your business well. A professional headshot, strong banner image, clear headline and well-written About Me Section all help create a positive first impression. Your profile should quickly show who you help, how you help and why someone should connect with you.
The second key point is to connect with the right people. LinkedIn’s search tools make it easier to find decision-makers, prospects, referral partners and industry contacts. A focused approach helps you build a network that is relevant to your goals rather than simply growing numbers.
The third key point is consistent engagement. Commenting on posts, sharing useful content and interacting with your network can increase visibility and build trust. Thoughtful comments often have more impact than a simple like, helping you stay active in the conversations that matter to your audience.
A useful way to track progress is through LinkedIn’s Social Selling Index, which gives insight into how effectively you are building your presence and relationships.
For business owners, the real value of LinkedIn is not just being seen. It is about building connection, trust and steady opportunities that support long-term business growth.
